Pakistan Spy Suspect Gagandeep Singh Linked to ISI and Khalistani Operatives

In a significant national security development, Punjab Police have arrested Gagandeep Singh in Tarn Taran on suspicion of spying for Pakistan, particularly during the ongoing high-alert military drill Operation Sindoor. Authorities suspect Singh of sharing sensitive information with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and maintaining deep links with Khalistani extremist Gopal Singh Chawla.

According to media reports quoting intelligence sources, Gagandeep Singh was allegedly passing on critical details related to Indian Army deployments and sensitive border movements. Investigators claim Singh had remained in contact with Pakistan-based extremist Chawla for the past five years. Chawla reportedly acted as a conduit between Singh and ISI operatives, referred to as Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).

DGP Gaurav Yadav of Punjab Police confirmed that Singh had received payments from PIOs through Indian channels, suggesting a well-coordinated espionage network. Preliminary investigations have also revealed that Singh was in touch with over 20 ISI-linked individuals and had been actively exchanging information using a specially configured mobile phone, now seized.

The case takes a more alarming turn with reports claiming that Singh had shared classified details during Operation Sindoor, a military preparedness exercise being conducted amid increasing tensions between India and Pakistan. He is also believed to have photographic ties with UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed, although police have not made any conclusive statements regarding this connection.

Authorities suspect that Singh had been operating covertly for an extended period, systematically leaking strategic data, potentially jeopardizing national security. The Punjab Police, in coordination with central intelligence agencies, are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the espionage network.

This arrest follows a series of intelligence operations aimed at dismantling ISI-supported sleeper cells and Khalistani sympathizers operating within Indian territory, particularly in sensitive border districts of Punjab.
