Rates of 23 Medicines Changed from Today, August 1: Central Government’s Big Decision; Find Out Which Medicines Are Included

Providing major relief to the countrymen, the Central Government has made significant changes to the prices of 23 essential medicines effective August 1. According to the gazette notification issued by the government, retail prices for 22 to 23 critical medicines and fixed-dose combinations have been fixed. Now, no shopkeeper or company can charge more than the fixed price for these medicines.

The specified medicines include vital drugs related to heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure (BP), paracetamol, antibiotics, mental health, fever, anxiety, iron, folic acid, and PCOS/female fertility.

The government has also clarified that GST can only be added to the price of the medicine if the retailer has actually paid GST to the government. If any shopkeeper violates these rules, they will have to refund the excess amount charged along with interest.
