The conflict between the US and Iran over control of the Strait of Hormuz has taken a dangerous turn. For the second consecutive day of violent clashes, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes using ballistic missiles and drones against the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan and US military installations in Bahrain. The attack in Jordan reportedly destroyed hangars housing RQ-4 and MQ-9 drones, with claims of multiple US personnel casualties.
This retaliatory action follows strikes by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) targeting Iran’s Qeshm Island, Sirik, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, and Jiroft Airport. The US strikes aimed at IRGC radar systems, air defense sites, and communication centers. Meanwhile, missile debris fell on a wedding ceremony in Sirik County, killing 4 people—including a child—and injuring over 50 others.
As tensions escalate, US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with further major strikes, while the IRGC warned that the US would regret its actions. With more than 50,000 US troops deployed in the Gulf region, the risk of a full-scale war in the Middle East has grown severe.
