Chlorine Dioxide Advocate to Appear at Miami Conference Amid Health Warnings

Donald Trump’s private golf club in Miami will soon host Andreas Kalcker, one of the most prominent promoters of chlorine dioxide, a potentially deadly industrial bleach falsely marketed as a cure for diseases such as cancer, Covid-19, and autism. Kalcker is among 50 speakers scheduled for the “Truth Seekers Conference,” which will take place at the Trump National Doral Miami later this week.

Kalcker, a German national based in Switzerland, has been widely criticized for selling chlorine dioxide (marketed as “CDS”) as a miraculous medical solution. Despite its approval as a disinfectant, he claims that this toxic chemical can eliminate pathogens causing various health issues. Health authorities, including the FDA in the United States and agencies in Spain, have condemned these claims, warning that chlorine dioxide poses serious health risks, including dehydration, kidney damage, and potentially fatal reactions.

The Growing Influence of Alternative Health Theories

Kalcker’s appearance at the Truth Seekers Conference highlights the growing prominence of unproven and dangerous health remedies within far-right circles. The event, organized by conspiracy theorist Charlie Ward, includes anti-vaccine advocates and individuals known for spreading misleading information about public health.

Kalcker’s claims have been widely debunked, with his bleach solution previously being linked to tragic incidents, including the death of a young child in Argentina. The promotion of his remedy is particularly concerning given the historical risks associated with chlorine dioxide, which has been sold as a “miracle cure” for a variety of ailments despite its known dangers.

Trump’s Connections to Anti-Vaccine and Fringe Health Movements

Kalcker’s appearance at Trump’s resort adds to concerns about the increasing acceptance of fringe health ideas within certain political circles. Robert Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine advocate and now head of the US Department of Health and Human Services, has publicly supported the use of chlorine dioxide, echoing remarks made by Trump in 2020 when the former president suggested disinfectant could be used to treat Covid-19.

The controversial promotion of unapproved health treatments is not new to the Trump administration, with previous attempts to censor government health information regarding chlorine dioxide. Critics argue that the government’s actions under Trump’s leadership have allowed the spread of unproven and harmful remedies.

Legal and Public Health Concerns

Kalcker has faced legal repercussions for his promotion of chlorine dioxide, with authorities in multiple countries, including Argentina, investigating him for the unsafe promotion of his product. Despite the legal challenges and numerous health warnings, Kalcker continues to sell his product internationally, including in Latin American countries.

The FDA has issued repeated warnings against the consumption of chlorine dioxide, describing it as a “powerful bleach” that can cause severe health consequences. Yet, Kalcker continues to market his product, maintaining a significant following among conspiracy theorists and alternative health advocates.
