The explosion occurred within the Sina container yard, part of the port’s container shipping and petrochemical facilities. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and injured individuals were swiftly transported to nearby medical centers. Footage circulating on social media showed massive plumes of black smoke and fireballs rising from the site, along with structural damage to buildings and vehicles.
Initial investigations suggest that improper storage of combustible materials may have triggered the disaster. Authorities confirmed that safety inspections had previously warned about risks at the location. The port, a critical hub for Iran’s maritime trade, also houses oil storage tanks and petrochemical installations.
Relief and rescue operations are ongoing as officials work to contain the fire and assess the full extent of the damage. The incident has temporarily halted port activities, raising concerns about disruptions to regional trade and supply chains. Further inquiries are underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
