Mumbai, July 4 (2026): Huge news has emerged for the fans of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit’s most awaited and long-controversial film “Punjab 95” has been released directly on an OTT platform without any pomp or official promotion. However, due to objections from the censor board, the title of this film had to be changed, and it is now streaming under a new title, “Satluj”.

Viewers can watch this film on the popular OTT platform Zee5. The film is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and the true story of his sudden disappearance in 1995. Diljit Dosanjh has played the main lead character of Jaswant Singh Khalra in the film. This biopical drama film has been directed by Honey Trehan and produced under the banner of RSVP and Macguffin Pictures. Apart from Diljit, stars like Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky, and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan are also seen playing pivotal roles in the film’s star cast.

The journey of this film has been full of ups and downs, as it was first showcased in the year 2022. At that time, the Censor Board (CBFC) had ordered 22 cuts in the film, but the controversy escalated further when in the year 2024, the CBFC recommended more than 100 cuts on the film. The censor board also raised strong objections to the name of the film and suggested changing its title to the name of Punjab’s historical river, Satluj, which the makers ultimately had to accept.

Last year, in 2025, Diljit Dosanjh also apologized to his fans for the continuous delay in the film’s release. He had stated in a statement that some things were beyond his control, leading many people to suspect that perhaps this film would never be able to release. But now, after going through all the controversies and the censorship process, this film has finally come before the audience on the digital platform. On the other hand, another film of Diljit Dosanjh, “Main Wapsi Aaunga”, directed by renowned Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali, has recently been released in theaters and is also receiving an excellent response from the audience.
