Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India has received strong support from several powerful nations, including the United States. These countries have unanimously backed India’s stance against terrorism. In a significant statement, the U.S. has declared full support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his fight against cross-border terrorism.
U.S. President Donald Trump had already spoken with PM Modi over the phone regarding the incident. On Friday, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce reaffirmed this support during a press conference. She stated that the Trump administration is closely monitoring the situation and remains in constant communication with both India and Pakistan.
Bruce confirmed that the U.S. Secretary of State had spoken with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “President Trump told Prime Minister Modi last week that the United States stands firmly with India in its fight against terrorism and offers complete support,” she added.
Bruce emphasized that the U.S. has urged both countries to approach the situation with responsibility to maintain long-term peace and regional stability in South Asia. “We are in contact with the governments of both nations at multiple levels,” she said.
When asked about efforts to de-escalate tensions, Bruce responded, “We are calling for a responsible resolution from both countries.”
This U.S. statement comes amid increasing ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. In response to Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism, India has taken several decisive steps:
Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty,
Closure of the Integrated Check Post at Attari,
Reduction in the strength of diplomatic missions (High Commissions) between the two countries.
These measures signal India’s firm stance and growing international backing in its efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard regional stability.
