Temperature Drops by 2.2°C, Bathinda Records 42.8°C; Farmers Advised to Stay Cautious
Punjab is set to witness a change in weather for the next five days, with forecasts predicting rain and thunderstorms across various regions. Due to active winds blowing across the state, the intense heat has slightly subsided, leading to a 2.2°C drop in temperature over the past 24 hours. However, the heat remains significant, with Bathinda recording the highest temperature at 42.8°C.

A cyclonic circulation has developed over southwest Rajasthan and nearby areas at a height of 1.5 km above sea level, which is causing this shift in weather patterns. Although the weather will remain dry today, changes are expected from May 1 onwards, bringing chances of rain, strong winds, and lightning.

Experts indicate that for the next 72 hours, no major fluctuation in maximum temperatures is expected. However, after this period, a further dip of 2–4°C is likely. In Chandigarh, the temperature has already dropped by 2.6°C in the past 24 hours, now recorded at 35.9°C.

Rain and Storm Forecast for Five Days

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected in some parts of Punjab on May 1, 2, 3, 4, and again on May 7. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued for high-speed winds and lightning.

Advisory for Farmers

As the wheat harvesting season is ongoing, farmers are advised to stay alert, safeguard their crops, and avoid working in open fields during high winds or lightning.
