Punjab’s Education and Information & Public Relations Minister, S. Harjot Singh Bains, recently revealed an ambitious plan to transform Nangal into a world-class tourist destination. This initiative, spearheaded under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is a reflection of the government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made in 2022. Thus, it marks a significant shift from promises to tangible progress on the ground.
During his media interaction, S. Harjot Singh Bains emphasized the government’s commitment to making those promises a reality. “What once were foundation stones, are now becoming the foundation of development,” he remarked, illustrating the shift toward substantial, visible progress. As a result, the city is now on the path to a major transformation.
A key milestone in Nangal’s development is the inauguration of the multi-crore Nangal Flyover, a project that had been in the works for years. Now, with the flyover fully operational, the city is poised to see significant improvements in both traffic management and local business activity. The project, which was once a longstanding challenge, is now expected to ease traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth. Consequently, daily commutes for residents have become much easier, and the city has experienced a renewed sense of energy and optimism.
The Education Minister also highlighted the ongoing reforms in the education sector. In particular, he emphasized the government’s commitment to providing quality education and modernizing school facilities. Furthermore, he credited a positive shift in BBMB officials’ responsiveness to the government’s directives. This change, he noted, is a direct result of strong governance and collective efforts across the board.
Among the most exciting developments is the upcoming Kadamba Tourist Complex. This project, which is currently in the tendering phase, is designed to boost tourism, create new job opportunities, and give Nangal a fresh identity on the tourism map. With construction expected to begin soon, this ambitious project will reshape Nangal’s tourism landscape. Therefore, it will provide new opportunities for both residents and visitors alike.
To further elevate Nangal’s tourist appeal, plans are underway for a River View development along the Sutlej River. The area will be enhanced with lush greenery and modern lighting, thereby providing visitors with an inviting and picturesque environment. Additionally, a Glass Bridge near Sutlej Park is set to be a major tourist attraction. In addition, tenders for both projects have already been invited, with construction expected to start shortly. Consequently, these initiatives will contribute significantly to making Nangal a must-visit destination.
In the realm of sports development, an ultra-modern indoor swimming pool is being constructed at the School of Eminence, setting a new benchmark in Punjab’s sports infrastructure. This multi-crore facility will support local athletes and help Nangal secure a place in the state’s sports landscape. As a result, it will offer an excellent training ground for local talent, making it a major asset for the region.
S. Harjot Singh Bains also discussed the government’s efforts to improve healthcare and education in the city. In particular, BBMB has been asked to allocate space for Aam Aadmi Clinics and a high-class library, which will provide residents with easy access to top-tier health and education services. Thus, these initiatives aim to improve the overall well-being of Nangal’s residents.
The Education Minister concluded by acknowledging the critical role of public trust in enabling these positive changes. He emphasized that under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, the state government is focused on transparency, accountability, and public welfare. In conclusion, S.
