Farah Khan Reveals Sheila Ki Jawani Was the Cheapest Song of Her Career

Renowned choreographer and director Farah Khan recently shared surprising insights about one of her most iconic creations—“Sheila Ki Jawani”, featuring Katrina Kaif. In a candid conversation on her YouTube channel, Farah revealed that the song, despite its massive popularity, was actually the cheapest project of her career.

Farah directed the 2010 film Tees Maar Khan, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, which included the blockbuster track Sheila Ki Jawani. Speaking on her channel, she stated, “When people tell me they shot a song on a big budget, I don’t get excited. I believe the smaller the budget, the more creatively you think. For me, Sheila Ki Jawani was the cheapest song I ever made.”

No Set, Just 10 Dancers

Farah elaborated that there was no set used for the shoot and only 10 dancers were involved. The entire video was wrapped up in just three and a half days. Despite the limited resources, the song turned out to be one of the biggest hits in her career. She added, “It was my third or fourth hit song and definitely the most economical one.”

Even today, Sheila Ki Jawani remains a party favorite, with Katrina Kaif’s bold look and the catchy lyrics still generating buzz. The song was commercially successful and continues to enjoy cultural relevance.

Farah Had Initially Rejected Katrina for the Film

Interestingly, in a previous interview, Farah admitted she initially didn’t want Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan. “Akshay and Katrina had already done 6-7 films together. I wasn’t keen on casting her,” she had said. However, things changed, and Katrina ultimately played the lead.

While the film itself did not receive much critical acclaim upon release, Sheila Ki Jawani stood out as a redeeming highlight.
