In a fresh administrative move, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has officially approved the Ministry of Power’s proposal to assign Shri B.S. Nara, Chief Engineer of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), as the Member (Irrigation) of the board. The order was issued on May 26, 2025, by the Department of Personnel & Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
As per the official order (No.20/2/2019-EO(SM.II)), Shri Nara will hold this key position for a period of six months with effect from the date he assumes charge, or until a regular appointment is made, or until further orders—whichever comes first.
The appointment aims to ensure continuity and efficiency in BBMB’s critical irrigation operations across northern India, especially during the upcoming monsoon and crop cycles. BBMB plays a vital role in water distribution and hydroelectric power management across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
