Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh – May 25, 2025:
A horrific incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district has shocked the nation. A 45-year-old woman was found dead after allegedly being brutally gang-raped in a tribal region under the jurisdiction of the Rosni Chowki outpost in Khalwa police station limits. The brutality of the crime echoes the infamous 2012 Nirbhaya case in Delhi.

The woman’s daughter discovered her in a semi-naked, unconscious state at a neighbor’s house and immediately informed the police. By the time authorities arrived, the woman had succumbed to her injuries. Initial forensic reports reveal that the woman’s uterus was found protruding from her body, with excessive bleeding from her private parts. Investigators suspect the insertion of a wooden or iron rod during the assault.

According to the local police, two suspects – Hari Palvi and Sunil Dhurve – both known to the victim, have been arrested from the same village. Villagers reported that the woman was discovered in an unconscious condition inside Hari Palvi’s house. She briefly regained consciousness and hinted at having been assaulted, but died shortly thereafter.

Her body has been transferred from Khalwa Hospital to Khandwa District Hospital for a post-mortem examination under the supervision of forensic experts from the local medical college.

Political Fallout and Public Outrage

The incident has sparked massive political uproar. Congress state president Jitu Patwari strongly condemned the act on social media, writing,
“After gang rape, the woman was left bleeding and unconscious in Khandwa. It is suspected that a stick or rod was inserted into her private parts, causing her uterus to be expelled. This barbarism is worse than jungle law! Such cruelty is only possible when there’s no fear of law. Yet, the government remains silent!”

Patwari further demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit Khandwa instead of Bhopal on May 31 to address the issue directly, suggesting that thousands of women from across the state should be brought to Khandwa at the government’s expense to highlight the state’s failure in protecting women.

Background and Legal Proceedings

The deceased was a mother of two and a resident of a tribal village. Forensic teams are examining all medical evidence to confirm the nature and tools of assault. Police have promised swift legal action and are interrogating the two accused to uncover potential involvement of others.

Rising Concerns in Madhya Pradesh

This incident adds to a troubling pattern of rising crimes against women in Madhya Pradesh. Despite repeated assurances from the ruling BJP government, women’s safety continues to be a grave concern in the state. Human rights groups and opposition leaders are now demanding accountability and urgent reforms in law enforcement and women’s protection protocols.
