The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has sparked nationwide outrage and heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In response to the escalating conflict, residents of villages near the Line of Control (LoC) have begun cleaning and preparing their intelligence shelters and bunkers, which serve as safe houses during cross-border firing or conflict.

A video has surfaced showing villagers near the LoC actively cleaning these bunkers, which were constructed by the Indian government to protect civilians during times of unrest. One resident from Karmara village in Poonch district stated that these bunkers have been used before during firing incidents and that following the Pahalgam attack, they have been thoroughly cleaned and made ready for use in any adverse situation.

Another villager from the same area mentioned that many had forgotten about these shelters, but the current atmosphere of fear in the Kashmir Valley has prompted people to revisit and maintain them. Despite the tense environment, locals remain hopeful that peace and harmony will be restored in the region.
This development comes amid intensified operations by the Indian Army in Kashmir to eliminate terrorist networks following the brutal attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Security forces continue to conduct search operations and demolish terrorist hideouts to prevent further violence.
