Trump Bulldozes White House East Wing to Build Grand Presidential Ballroom — A 15-Year Dream Project Begins

Washington DC, October 21, 2025 (Morning Report):
In a move that has stunned Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump has officially begun demolishing the East Wing of the White House to make way for what he calls “the most magnificent Presidential Ballroom in American history.” According to Trump, this project fulfills a 150-year-old dream long envisioned by past presidents.

Trump funds the project personally

Trump announced that the entire renovation is being privately funded, emphasizing that “not a single dollar” of taxpayer money will be used. Posting on his Truth Social platform, he wrote,

“Every U.S. President for 150 years has dreamed of a grand ballroom inside the White House — and I am the first to make it happen. This project will cost taxpayers nothing — it’s funded by generous patriots, great American companies, and yes, even your companies!”

He described the upcoming structure as a 90,000-square-foot modern ballroom, intended for state visits, major national gatherings, and formal events. The ballroom will stand apart from the traditional White House but remain part of its secured complex.

“A long-overdue modernization”

Trump justified the demolition of the East Wing — which has housed key offices and First Lady staff for decades — as “a necessary modernization.”

“The East Wing will be rebuilt into something far more beautiful and modern. When complete, it will outshine anything ever seen in Washington,” Trump stated.

According to CNN reports, the ballroom forms part of Trump’s $200 million White House renovation plan, something he’s privately envisioned for over 15 years, long before returning to the presidency.

What will the new ballroom include?

The upcoming Presidential Ballroom will host large-scale receptions, cultural galas, and diplomatic banquets. Trump claims it will allow “future Presidents to host America’s greatest events in true style.”

Architectural insiders revealed that Trump has commissioned a team of luxury designers known for projects at his private resorts, ensuring the new ballroom mirrors the opulent aesthetic of Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower.

A symbolic and political statement

While Trump insists the project is “purely patriotic,” critics argue that it reinforces his image as a businessman-president blurring personal grandeur with public institutions.
However, supporters hail it as “a proud expression of American excellence and self-funding governance.”
