Ludhiana/Ranchi: March 18, 2026
Uproar broke out during a live show of Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma when an audience member’s behavior forced her to stop singing in anger. The incident took place during a program at Amity University (Ranchi), Jharkhand, on March 13. A video of the confrontation is now going viral on social media, with fans praising Sunanda’s courage and the immediate lesson she taught the individual.
While Sunanda was performing on stage, she took a fan’s phone to look at something. During this moment, a young man in the audience began making indecent gestures toward her. As soon as Sunanda noticed him, she became visibly angry. She returned the phone and walked to the edge of the stage to issue a direct warning over the microphone.
Sunanda stated:
“The gestures you are making… I am talking specifically to you. I am letting this go right now because the show is going very well and I don’t want to ruin it, otherwise…!”
Following this warning, the students in the hall erupted in applause to show their support for her.
Following the tense atmosphere, another incident occurred just as Sunanda resumed singing. A pyrotechnic cracker on stage suddenly went off with a loud bang, causing a startled Sunanda to jump back. However, she quickly handled the situation and jokingly requested the organizers not to let that happen again.
In a lighter moment during the same event, a fan used a poster to propose to her, writing, “My mom likes you,” to which Sunanda gave a very witty and quick-witted response.
Fans on social media are hailing Sunanda Sharma as a “Lioness,” asserting that such disrespectful behavior toward female artists should never be tolerated.
