Punjab Weather Update: Light Rain Alert, Temperatures Dip as Rivers Recede

Chandigarh, September 13, 2025 – Parts of Punjab are expected to see light showers today as the state remains under partly cloudy skies. The latest weather alert has warned of light rainfall in some districts, while temperatures have recorded a noticeable drop.

Patiala reported the highest maximum temperature at 33.7°C, while Bathinda recorded the lowest at 23.5°C. Overall, the weather shift has brought some relief from the recent spell of floods that gripped the state.

With no fresh rainfall in the hilly regions, Punjab is slowly returning to normal life. The water levels in major rivers have dropped, and flood-hit areas have also seen significant improvement. Authorities are carrying out damage assessments along border regions, while repair and strengthening of breached or weak embankments are being expedited.

Across several flood-affected districts, water levels continue to decline steadily. However, officials noted that around 3 to 4 feet of sand deposits have accumulated in agricultural fields, posing fresh challenges for farmers.

Weather in Major Cities

  • Amritsar: Maximum temperature likely to remain around 25.2°C with no rain warning. The district has so far received 651.9 mm of rainfall this season.

  • Jalandhar: No rain alert; maximum temperature expected to reach 32°C. Total seasonal rainfall recorded stands at 902.7 mm.

  • Ludhiana: No rain warning issued; temperature currently at 25.5°C. The city has received 798.2 mm of rainfall to date.

The situation across Punjab is gradually stabilizing, though repair and restoration works remain in full swing in flood-hit areas.
