Punjab Advisories Remain in Place Despite Ceasefire: CM Mann

Chandigarh, May 10, 2025 — Even after the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Punjab will maintain all current security advisories without any changes. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made it clear on Saturday that the state remains on high alert and will continue to follow army directions as needed.

In an official statement, CM Mann said, “All existing advisories issued will remain in place, and we will act as per the instructions of the army for as long as required.” His comments came shortly after New Delhi and Islamabad announced a temporary halt to escalating tensions along the border.

The move comes amid heightened public concern over cross-border hostilities. Punjab, which shares a long and sensitive border with Pakistan, has witnessed increased military movement and civilian advisories over the past week. While the ceasefire brings a momentary sense of relief, Mann emphasized that Punjab’s preparedness remains a top priority.

“The safety of our people is paramount. We cannot afford to let our guard down simply because of a ceasefire declaration,” Mann stated. He further added that coordination with the armed forces will continue uninterrupted, and any changes in advisory protocols will be made only on the army’s recommendation.

The directive ensures that border districts such as Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, and Pathankot remain vigilant. Citizens are advised to stay updated through official government channels and to adhere strictly to local guidance.

By continuing existing advisories, Punjab affirms its commitment to national security and civil safety. While the ceasefire may de-escalate immediate threats, the state’s stance highlights a cautious and prepared approach.
