PM Modi Manipur Visit: Call for Peace and Development
Imphal, September 13, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited violence-affected Churachandpur district of Manipur, where he was warmly welcomed by locals with flowers and tricolors. During his visit, Modi interacted with community members and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹7,300 crore.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister praised the resilience of the people, saying: “Manipur is a land of courage and bravery.” He recalled how heavy rainfall forced him to travel by road instead of helicopter, which allowed him to witness young and elderly citizens proudly waving the national flag. Modi said the moment left him deeply moved and would remain unforgettable.
Highlighting the need for reconciliation after two years of ethnic violence, Modi appealed for peace: “Establishing peace anywhere is vital. A new dawn of hope and faith is knocking at Manipur’s doors.” He urged all organizations and groups to walk the path of peace and safeguard the future of their children.
Modi emphasized the Centre’s long-term commitment to improving connectivity in Manipur, especially since 2014.
Road and Railway Boost: Investments in road and rail projects have surged, with ₹3,700 crore spent on national highways in recent years and ₹8,700 crore currently being invested in new highways.
Rural Connectivity: Efforts to link villages with all-weather roads have accelerated regional development.
