New Delhi, April 28, 2025:
Dozens of Pakistani nationals approached the Pakistan Nationals Registration Office, part of the Special Branch of Delhi Police, seeking clarity and assistance regarding their stay in India and to process their exit forms.
Among them was Samreen, a Pakistani national, who expressed her anguish over being asked to leave the country.
“I have been asked to go back. What is my fault, and why am I being punished?” she questioned, holding back tears. Samreen shared that she came to India in September and married an Indian citizen in October. Despite applying for a long-term visa, her request is still pending.

“My long-term visa is pending. I have to leave tomorrow. Those who don’t have a long-term visa are being asked to leave the country,” she explained.
The enforcement actions come in the wake of a controversial incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. However, individuals like Samreen have distanced themselves from the event.

“Whatever happened in Pahalgam is absolutely wrong. It should not have happened, but it is not our fault,” Samreen asserted, emphasizing that the actions of a few should not affect innocent families.
Authorities have reportedly increased scrutiny of Pakistani nationals residing in India, particularly those awaiting visa renewals or approvals. Individuals without valid long-term visas are being instructed to exit the country promptly.
