Major Security Success Ahead of Independence Day: Three Militants Arrested in Handwara
Srinagar, August 14, 2025 – Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have scored a major success ahead of Independence Day by arresting three militants in Handwara’s Kalamabad area. Acting on specific intelligence, police, the Indian Army, and the CRPF carried out a joint operation in Wajihama, leading to the arrests.
Arrests and Recoveries
The detained militants have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Pandit, Sajjad Ahmad Shah, and Ishfaq Ahmad Malik. Security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from them, including:

One pistol magazine
Two pistol rounds
Twenty 7.62 mm rounds
Eleven anti-national posters
Ongoing Operations and Security Measures
In recent days, the Army has intensified search operations across Jammu and Kashmir. Just days ago, an infiltration attempt in the Uri sector was foiled, though it claimed the life of an Army soldier. In the Akhal area, ongoing operations have forced several villagers to temporarily leave their homes.
