Two weeks after the short journey with an all-female crew, Perry wrote a heartfelt message. She said the internet had turned her into a “human piñata,” but she continues to “look to the light.”
Despite the heavy Katy Perry backlash, her fans stepped up. A group of supporters paid for a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square. The message expressed love, pride, and encouragement.
A fan account shared the video, and Perry replied, calling her fans a blessing.
“I’m so grateful. We’re in this beautiful and wild journey together.”
Her words showed appreciation for the loyalty that has followed her through every high and low.
Critics targeted Perry’s role in Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin mission. During the 11-minute flight, she sang What a Wonderful World and revealed her new tour’s setlist. Many people viewed this as ill-timed, especially during ongoing economic hardships.
British singer Lily Allen later apologized for her harsh remarks.
“Even though I disagreed with the flight, I regret being mean about it,” she said.
The backlash began after Perry’s appearance aboard Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin all-female mission. While intended to be inspirational, her performance of What a Wonderful World and promotion of her upcoming tour during the flight were seen by some as “tone-deaf” in light of global economic hardships.
