John Bolton Backs India’s Global Effort to Expose Terror Threat

Washington, DC, May 21 — Former United States National Security Advisor John Bolton has voiced strong support for India’s all-party delegation visiting key partner nations to highlight the country’s sustained battle against terrorism and garner international backing.

In a statement during the delegation’s outreach in Washington, Bolton emphasized the need for global awareness of the nature and extent of terror threats India faces.

“It’s important for India to educate people around the world on what nature this terrorist attack has been,” Bolton said. “It’s unacceptable for innocent civilians to be threatened and harmed by terrorist attacks.”

Bolton, who served under the Trump administration, noted that global forums like the United Nations often face challenges in achieving consensus on terrorism due to differing political lenses.

“At the UN, it was always difficult to get people to focus on it because one person’s terrorist is another person’s liberation movement,” he explained.

He acknowledged India’s long-standing experience as a victim of terrorism and praised its leadership in conveying the severity of the threat to international partners. “India has borne considerable terror attacks across the country. It is particularly a good place to help explain to others what this threat is and get their support,” Bolton added.

India’s multi-party delegation has been tasked with building global consensus, especially among strategic allies, on the urgent need to isolate and counter state-sponsored terrorism. The delegation is meeting policymakers, think tanks, and diaspora groups in countries including the U.S., UK, France, and Australia.
