Final Electoral Roll Ludhiana West Ready for Bye-Elections

Chandigarh, May 5 – The final electoral roll for Ludhiana West Assembly Constituency has been released ahead of the bye-elections. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) prepared the list based on the Special Summary Revision, using April 1, 2025, as the qualifying date.

Himanshu Jain, the District Election Officer, handed printed copies of the roll to recognized political parties, following Election Commission of India (ECI) rules.

Ludhiana West Voter List Now Has 1.74 Lakh Names

Sibin CPunjab’s Chief Electoral Officer, shared the updated statistics:

  • Total voters: 1,74,437

  • Male voters: 89,602

  • Female voters: 84,825

  • Third-gender voters: 10

The number of polling stations has been rationalized to 192, improving voter access and comfort. He also confirmed 100% EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) coverage, a major milestone in ensuring a clean, verified voter database.

Election Roll Revision Followed ECI Guidelines

The voter list revision followed strict ECI protocols. Officials shared:

  • Draft lists

  • Final lists

  • Claims and objections

Each step aligned with the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and Electoral Rules, 1960.

Voters Can Appeal ERO Orders

During the meeting, CEO Sibin C reminded party representatives about the appeal process. If a voter disagrees with the ERO’s decision, they can appeal to the District Election Officer. If needed, they may further appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer, as allowed under Section 24 of the 1950 Act and Rule 23 of the 1960 Rules.

With the final electoral roll ready, Ludhiana West is set for a smooth and transparent bye-election.
