In a major development regarding the suicide of Warehouse District Manager (DM) Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the Amritsar Police have taken significant action by registering an FIR against former Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. The case has been filed at the Ranjit Avenue Police Station in Amritsar.
According to available information, the police have named not only the former minister but also his father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar, and the minister’s Personal Assistant (PA) in the case. This move comes following persistent protests by the victim’s family and mounting pressure from opposition parties. Before his death, DM Randhawa had leveled serious allegations against these individuals in a video message and written letters.
Legal Charges: The accused have been booked under sections related to Abetment of Suicide and other relevant legal provisions.
Action Following Resignation: It is notable that Laljit Bhullar resigned from his ministerial post just last evening in the wake of the controversy.
A Victory for the Family: The victim’s family had earlier declared they would not allow the post-mortem to proceed until an FIR was registered. With the case now filed, the path for further legal proceedings has been cleared.
The police are now conducting a thorough investigation to verify the allegations made in the video and the correspondence left behind by the deceased. Opposition parties have hailed this development as the “first victory for justice.”
