Amritsar, Sept 25 (2025) – Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, which faced backlash after the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Speaking during his ORA tour stop in Singapore, Dosanjh clarified that his loyalty lies firmly with India and that the film was produced long before recent political tensions.
On stage, Dosanjh drew a parallel between the controversy and an India-Pakistan cricket match, stating:
“There was an India-Pakistan match, and my film is completely different from that. When Sardaar Ji 3 was made, it was months earlier. The tragic Pahalgam attack came later. At that time, we prayed for the victims and condemned the violence. Even today, I believe those responsible must face the strictest punishment. We stand with our nation.”
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, critics questioned the decision to cast Hania Aamir opposite Dosanjh. Social media campaigns soon pressured producers, leading to the decision to withhold the film’s release in India and instead distribute it overseas.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also took a tough stance, warning:
“If the film is released, we will ban Diljit Dosanjh, his production house White Leather House, and all producers working with him.”
Despite this, Dosanjh reiterated that Sardaar Ji 3 was filmed in normal times and should not be linked with cross-border hostilities.
Amid speculation that Dosanjh might be dropped from the highly anticipated Border 2, the singer-actor reassured fans via multiple social media posts that he remains part of the project. He emphasized:
“For me, the nation always comes first. Punjabi and Sardars can never go against India.”
