BMW Case Twist: Why Gagandeep Drove Navjot 22 km Away After Crash
Fresh details have emerged in the BMW accident that killed government officer Navjot Singh in Delhi Cantonment on Sunday. Police investigations have revealed why the victims were not taken to the nearby Army Base Hospital but instead driven 22 kilometers away to a private facility in GTB Nagar.
According to investigators, the hospital belongs to Gagandeep’s cousin—the son of the accused driver’s maternal aunt. Police found that Gagandeep’s brother owns the facility, and their father, Jaivinder, is also a partner in a hospital branch located in Greater Kailash. This family connection explains why Gagandeep rushed the injured to that particular hospital after the crash.
The police are probing why Gagandeep and her husband did not call authorities immediately after the accident. Officers say that if timely information had been given, the victims could have been admitted within minutes to the Army Base Hospital located nearby. This might have saved Navjot Singh’s life.
Navjot Singh’s body was handed over to his family after a postmortem and later shifted to Venkateshwar Hospital, where his wife Sandeep Kaur is undergoing treatment. Upon seeing her husband’s body, Sandeep broke down uncontrollably and fainted.
On Tuesday, a Delhi Cantonment police team reached the hospital to question Gagandeep’s husband, Parikshit. However, doctors allowed only limited interaction, preventing detailed interrogation. Police sources said Parikshit is suspected of withholding crucial evidence and information related to the crash.
The fatal crash occurred on Sunday afternoon when a speeding BMW rammed into Navjot Singh and his wife, who were riding a motorcycle in the Cantonment area. Singh, 52, worked as a Deputy Secretary in the Finance Ministry. The couple was returning to their Hari Nagar residence after dinner in RK Puram. While Navjot died on the spot, his wife sustained serious injuries.
