Washington: March 27, 2026
A historic and unique decision has been made in the 165-year history of United States currency. As part of the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary, the signature of President Donald J. Trump will now be printed on the US Dollar. This marks the first time that a sitting president’s signature will appear on the nation’s paper money.
The US Treasury Department has confirmed that Trump’s signature will appear on the notes alongside the signature of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Symbolism: According to Treasurer Brandon Beach, this move symbolizes the President’s leadership and his dedication to the nation.
Official Statement: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that there could be no better way to honor President Trump’s historic achievements.
Timeline: The Treasury Department clarified that the first $100 bills featuring President Trump’s signature will begin printing in June 2026. This change is expected to be rolled out across other denominations in the future.
It is important to note that no changes will be made to the original design of the banknotes; the signature of the President will simply be added to the designated signature area.
This decision comes at a significant time, as the United States is currently engaged in a war against Iran. Notably, previous attempts to issue a $1 coin featuring Trump’s image were unsuccessful due to US laws that prohibit featuring a living person on currency. However, no such legal barrier exists regarding the inclusion of signatures.
