Beas Dera Chief Meets Bikram Majithia in Nabha Jail
Nabha, Punjab: Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the head of the Beas-based Dera, visited Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha Jail today. Majithia is currently lodged there in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The meeting took place just ahead of the scheduled hearing on his bail plea.
Reason for the Meeting and Family Links
Although no official reason was given for the visit, sources said that Gurinder Singh Dhillon is a relative of Majithia’s wife, Ganieve Kaur. According to jail rules, Majithia’s family had submitted a list of 10 approved visitors to the administration, which included the Dera head’s name. Earlier, Majithia’s wife Ganieve Kaur and his sister, former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, had also visited him in jail.
Charges Against Majithia and Case Status
Majithia was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on June 25, 2025, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Officials allege that he built properties worth over ₹700 crore in the names of his driver and other associates.
The Vigilance Bureau has submitted a 40,000-page chargesheet in court, supported by statements from over 200 witnesses. The case is also linked to an earlier NDPS matter filed in 2021. Investigators have asserted that their case is strong and believe Majithia is unlikely to secure bail this time.
