Zelenskyy Warns of Imminent Russian Attack on Another European Nation

KYIV — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Vladimir Putin is preparing to broaden the war beyond Ukraine by attacking another European country, stating that Moscow is deliberately testing NATO’s defenses.
Following a meeting with Donald Trump at the UN, the Ukrainian leader predicted, “Putin will not wait to finish his war in Ukraine. He will open up some other direction.”

Testing NATO Defenses

Zelenskyy claimed Russia is assessing Europe’s air protection capacity via recent drone incursions in Denmark, Poland, and Romania, as well as violations of Estonian airspace. He indicated that European governments are struggling to counter this threat, citing an incident where 19 Russian-launched drones crossed into Poland.
He announced that representatives from several undisclosed nations would travel to Ukraine for “practical training” to learn how to repel Russian aerial assaults, saying, “We are ready to share our experience.”

Shift in US View

Zelenskyy noted that his “very nice” talks with Trump resulted in the former US President expressing greater confidence that Ukraine could reclaim its lost territory. Trump also labeled the Russian military a “paper tiger.”
The Ukrainian President said he had convinced Trump that Russia’s gains are merely “temporary presence” and that Moscow treats everyone with “disrespect.”
Finally, Zelenskyy issued a direct threat to the Kremlin: if Russia destroys Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this winter, its own capital will face retaliatory blackouts, leveraging Ukraine’s recent success in striking Russian oil refineries with long-range drones.
