Born as Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova in 1911 in present-day North Macedonia, Baba Vanga lost her eyesight at the age of 12 after being caught in a severe storm. Her followers claim this event gave her the ability to foresee the future. By the age of 30, she had become so well-known for her predictions and healing that even Bulgarian King Boris III and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev sought her advice.
She passed away in 1996 at the age of 84. Today, her former home in Petrich, Bulgaria, has been turned into a museum.
