Relations between Washington and Caracas have reached a critical point after former US President Donald Trump claimed that Venezuela is now completely surrounded by what he described as the largest naval deployment in South American history. Trump made the explosive assertion in a post on social media, warning that Venezuela is about to face consequences unlike anything it has ever experienced before.
According to Trump, the US Navy has positioned an unprecedented fleet around Venezuela, signaling a readiness for decisive action. He warned that the country would suffer a massive blow unless it returns what he called “stolen” American assets, including oil, land, and other resources. Trump alleged that these resources were unlawfully taken by the Venezuelan state and are now being exploited by the current leadership.
In his statement, Trump directly targeted President Nicolás Maduro’s government, calling it an “illegal regime.” He accused the Maduro administration of using revenue from oil fields to finance criminal activities, including narco-terrorism, human trafficking, murder, and kidnapping. Trump claimed that Venezuela’s oil wealth is being diverted to sustain organized crime networks rather than benefiting its citizens.
Trump further asserted that due to the alleged theft of US assets and the regime’s involvement in terrorism, drug trafficking, and human smuggling, the Venezuelan government has been designated as a foreign terrorist organization. He argued that these actions justify strong and immediate measures by the United States.
While no official confirmation has yet been issued by the US Department of Defense regarding the scale of the naval deployment, Trump’s remarks have sparked global concern. Analysts warn that any direct military action could have serious consequences for regional stability in Latin America and beyond.
The Venezuelan government has not immediately responded to Trump’s claims. However, past statements from Caracas have consistently rejected US accusations, describing them as attempts to undermine Venezuela’s sovereignty and control its natural resources.
