War Persists Despite Ceasefire: Attack on Iranian Oil Refinery; Tehran Launches Missiles at UAE and Kuwait in Retaliation

Tehran/Dubai: April 08, 2026 :  Just hours after the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, the situation in the Middle East has spiraled out of control once again. On Wednesday, a major aerial attack was carried out on a critical oil refinery located on Iran’s Lavan Island. According to ‘Shana,’ the Iranian Oil Ministry’s news outlet, the attack occurred at 10:00 AM local time. While no casualties have been reported in the incident, the oil facilities sustained significant damage. Iranian officials have condemned the strike as a “dastardly act by the enemy.”

Iran took immediate retaliatory action by launching several missile and drone strikes against U.S. allies in the Gulf, specifically the UAE and Kuwait. The Kuwaiti military confirmed that Iranian attacks damaged their power plants and oil facilities. On the other hand, the UAE claimed that its defense systems intercepted several Iranian missiles mid-air, while reports of attacks also emerged from Manama, the capital of Bahrain.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, reacting to the entire sequence of events, described the agreement as a “fragile ceasefire.” He stated that while negotiations are ongoing, the terms of the ceasefire remain very vague. Iran maintains that under this agreement, it will implement a new system of tariffs on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but other nations have yet to agree to this. Meanwhile, tensions persist on the Lebanon front as Israel has made it clear that it will continue its military campaign against Hezbollah.
