Ayodhya, May 25, 2025 – Cricket star Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma made a spiritual visit to Ayodhya on Sunday, where they offered prayers at the revered Ram Lalla temple and Hanuman Garhi shrine. The couple, known for their growing spiritual inclination, took time off from Kohli’s IPL schedule to pay their respects at these holy sites.
At the Hanuman Garhi temple, the priest welcomed them with a garland and performed a tilak ceremony. Both Virat and Anushka bowed before the deity and took part in religious rituals. A video showing the couple participating in the puja inside the temple has surfaced online, drawing enthusiastic reactions from fans.
Earlier in the month, on May 12, shortly after announcing his retirement from Test cricket, Kohli had also visited Vrindavan with Anushka. There, they held a spiritual discussion with Premanand Maharaj, reflecting their deepening engagement with faith and meditation.
According to Mahant Sanjay Das Ji Maharaj of Hanuman Garhi, “Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma showed profound spiritual devotion during their visit.” He added that the couple had discussions about spirituality after offering prayers at Ram Lalla.
Currently, Virat Kohli is in Lucknow for the IPL 2025 season. On May 23, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 43 runs off 25 balls, although his team lost the match. With a four-day gap before RCB’s next game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27, the couple used this break for their spiritual journey to Ayodhya.
Throughout their temple visits, Uttar Pradesh Police provided tight security, while crowds of fans gathered hoping to catch a glimpse of the star couple.
