Location: Huntington Beach, California, USA
Time: Saturday (local time)
Cause: The pilot reportedly lost control of the helicopter moments after takeoff.
According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft began spinning uncontrollably like a fan before it rapidly descended and collided with trees near the Pacific Coast Highway. The helicopter then struck the ground, shattering into debris across the road.
A video of the crash has gone viral on social media, showing the chopper spiraling out of control before impact, followed by smoke and chaos as onlookers rushed to help.
Initial reports confirm that five people were injured in the incident:
Two individuals were on board the helicopter when it crashed.
Three others were on the road at the time of the accident and suffered serious injuries from debris and impact.
Emergency crews quickly reached the scene and transported the victims to nearby hospitals. So far, no fatalities have been reported, and one additional person is believed to have escaped unhurt.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest a mechanical failure or pilot error may have led to the loss of control.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are expected to jointly oversee the investigation.
