UK: Two Elderly Sikhs Assaulted in Racist Attack at Wolverhampton Railway Station, Three Arrested After Video Goes Viral

Wolverhampton (UK), August 19, 2025 – In a shocking incident of racial violence, two elderly Sikh men were brutally attacked outside Wolverhampton Railway Station last Friday afternoon (August 15). The assault, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, shows the victims being punched, kicked, and one of them having his turban forcibly removed.

The Attack

  • According to reports, the victims – both local taxi drivers – were approached around 2 PM by a group of white teenagers who demanded a ride to Oldbury.

  • When told they must book through the taxi rank, the youths became aggressive, insulted the drivers, and launched a physical assault.

  • One Sikh man was repeatedly punched in the face and had his turban knocked off before collapsing to the ground.

  • When his colleague tried to intervene, he too was attacked, sustaining multiple broken ribs and breathing difficulties.

  • Both men have lived and worked in the UK for over 30 years and said they had never experienced such a violent incident.

Police Response

  • The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the arrests of three teenagers at the scene.

  • In a statement posted on social media platform X, the BTP said:

    “We do not tolerate such behaviour on the rail network. A full investigation is underway. Three boys have been arrested, and questioning is ongoing. If you witnessed this assault, please contact us quoting reference 353 of 15/08/25.”

Community Reaction

  • The Sikh Federation (UK) condemned the attack, calling it “cowardly” and reaffirming support for the victims and their families.

  • Local MP Sureena Brackenridge expressed solidarity:

    “My thoughts are with all those affected. Wolverhampton takes pride in its strong, diverse, and resilient community. At such times, unity and calm are vital.”

  • Former Punjab Deputy CM and Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also condemned the assault, demanding strict action from UK authorities and urging India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to raise the issue with the UK government to safeguard the Sikh diaspora.
