TTP Terror Attack in Pakistan: Security Forces Kill Several Militants in Intense Gun Battle
A major terror attack in Pakistan’s Bannu district has left multiple Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants dead following a fierce encounter with police and security forces. The assault took place when TTP gunmen ambushed a police convoy led by District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Khan on the Miranshah Road in North Waziristan.
According to officials, the militants opened fire on the police convoy, prompting a swift retaliatory response. Security personnel immediately surrounded the attackers and engaged them in a heavy gunfight. Several TTP terrorists were killed in the exchange, while a few managed to escape. The police recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants.
At least six police personnel sustained injuries in the attack and were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital under military supervision. DPO Waqar Khan and his team survived due to their bulletproof vehicles.
Following the attack, the Pakistan Army launched a massive cordon-and-search operation across the region to hunt down the fleeing militants. Two additional encounters reportedly took place in separate areas, during which several more TTP fighters were neutralized.
The Pakistani government has accused Afghanistan of harboring TTP militants responsible for cross-border attacks. In retaliation, Pakistan recently conducted airstrikes on terrorist hideouts inside Kabul and nearby provinces, destroying multiple facilities.
However, the Afghan Taliban denounced the strikes, calling them an “act of war.” Armed Taliban fighters reportedly crossed into Pakistani territory, attacking border posts and killing Pakistani soldiers.
After three days of escalating violence, both nations reportedly reached a ceasefire agreement, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, to prevent further military confrontation.
