New York, September 24, 2025 – U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a fiery 56-minute speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), attacking the global body as “useless” and accusing it of failing to support his peace efforts. Trump claimed he personally halted seven wars during his presidency but never received recognition or cooperation from the United Nations.
“I stopped seven wars around the world, but the United Nations never called me, never offered support, not even a phone call to say thank you,” Trump declared, once again positioning himself as a global peacekeeper while casting doubt on the UN’s credibility. His comments came alongside sharp criticism of climate action, immigration policies, and Europe’s approach to energy.
Trump dismissed international climate initiatives as a “fraud” and renewable energy as a “joke.” He insisted that the concept of a carbon footprint was a “conspiracy created by people with bad intentions” and argued that Western nations pursuing aggressive climate policies were heading toward destruction.
He touted his administration’s push to expand oil, gas, and coal exploration, portraying fossil fuels as the backbone of U.S. strength.
Turning to immigration, Trump warned that Western Europe’s “suicidal” energy and migration policies were accelerating their own demise. He contrasted Europe’s approach with America’s stricter immigration stance, presenting it as a model for other nations.
Trump also rebuked NATO allies for failing to block Russian oil imports, accusing them of indirectly financing a war against themselves. He threatened that if Russia did not agree to a peace settlement, the U.S. would impose “powerful tariffs” to force an end to the conflict.
Despite his harsh words at the podium, Trump struck a softer tone in a subsequent meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. “Our country is 100% with the United Nations,” he said, noting that while disagreements were natural, he remained committed to supporting the institution.
In a lighter moment, Trump mocked the UN’s infrastructure, joking: “I got two things from the United Nations – a broken escalator and a broken teleprompter.” The UNGA President quickly countered, saying the teleprompter was working perfectly fine.
Trump’s remarks sparked sharp criticism worldwide. Rachel Cleetus of the Union of Concerned Scientists said, “President Trump and his administration are spreading lies and disinformation about climate science and clean energy, causing serious harm to the American people.”
By questioning the UN’s purpose, undermining climate action, and reigniting his claim of stopping multiple wars, Trump once again placed himself at the center of global debate—blending confrontation with showmanship on the world stage.
