Tremors Jolt New York and Other U.S. Cities, Tsunami Alert Issued for Alaska and Hawaii
New York, August 6, 2025 — Panic gripped parts of the United States as earthquake tremors were felt across New York City and surrounding areas, marking the second such incident within three days. Although no casualties or property damage have been reported so far, the sudden shaking led to fear among residents, with many rushing out of their homes onto the streets.
According to eyewitnesses, the ground shook unexpectedly, causing momentary confusion. “We felt the building move and didn’t know what was happening. Only later did we learn it was an earthquake,” said a resident from Brooklyn.
Just days earlier, on Saturday night, tremors had been reported in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, with a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale. While relatively mild, the recurrence of seismic activity has unsettled local populations unused to frequent earthquakes.
Meanwhile, U.S. authorities have issued a tsunami warning for Alaska and Hawaii, following seismic activity in the Pacific region. Guam and the Micronesian islands have been placed under a “tsunami watch”, urging preparedness without immediate evacuation.
Hawaii’s Governor Josh Green has appealed for calm and instructed residents to move to safe zones as a precaution. Officials emphasized that the tsunami’s potential impact remains offshore, but out of caution, some coastal areas have begun voluntary evacuations.
Emergency services in both Alaska and Hawaii have been placed on high alert, and monitoring systems are active to track further seismic movement or any rise in ocean levels.
