Surrey, Canada (Oct 7, 2025): Public safety concerns escalated in Surrey on Monday after three separate shootings were reported within 24 hours, including one targeting a police station and another at an Indian restaurant.
On Monday afternoon, parts of Surrey’s Whalley area were placed under lockdown after reports of gunfire at a Surrey Police Service (SPS) station near King George Boulevard and 107 Avenue.
By 4 p.m., officers had restricted both vehicle and pedestrian access to the surrounding area. A suspect was taken into custody, but the situation remained “active” through the evening as the individual had left a bag inside the police office. An explosives disposal unit was called to the scene to assess potential risks. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
Before the police station attack, two other shootings occurred earlier the same morning:
Indian Restaurant Targeted: At approximately 2:20 a.m., Ustad G76 Indian Restaurant on King George Boulevard was struck by gunfire. Investigators believe the attack may be linked to an extortion attempt.
Residential Shooting: Around the same time, shots were fired at a residence on 141 Street in Whalley, while several people were inside. No injuries were reported, and police said this incident does not appear to be related to extortion.
The back-to-back incidents — three shootings in less than a day — have raised serious concerns among Surrey residents about rising gun violence and public safety. Police are investigating whether the attacks are connected.
