A peaceful vacation turned into a nightmare for Rishi Bhatt, a tourist from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, who found himself caught in a sudden terrorist attack while ziplining in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
> *“The firing started when I was ziplining… I didn’t realise for about 20 seconds,”* said Bhatt in a viral video now circulating on social media.
Bhatt alleges that the zipline operator uttered *“Allahu Akbar”* three times just before the attack began—raising suspicions about his potential involvement.
> *“Nine people ziplined before me, but he didn’t say anything. Only when I was sliding, he said it—and the firing began.”*
According to Bhatt, the terrorists specifically asked the religion of male members from two families ahead of him and shot them in front of their families.
His wife and young son witnessed the horrific scenes and began screaming.

Bhatt unlatched his zipline harness mid-air and jumped down to rescue his family. They ran and hid in a pit-like spot to avoid detection.
> *“We saw 15–16 tourists getting shot in front of us. It was chaos.”*
A pony guide helped Bhatt and others flee toward the main gate, where they encountered Indian Army personnel.
> *“The Army arrived and gave us cover within 20–25 minutes. That’s when we finally felt safe. I’m extremely thankful to them,”* Bhatt stated.
While the area had Army presence in lower forested zones, Bhatt pointed out that no Army personnel were stationed at the main tourist site. Only local police and a few private security guards were present.
This shocking incident has raised questions over the security preparedness at popular tourist destinations in Kashmir. Authorities have yet to confirm details regarding the zipline operator’s identity and role.
