Baghdad: April 02, 2026
The effects of the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States are now rapidly manifesting in neighboring Iraq. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has issued a highly urgent advisory ordering all American citizens to leave Iraq immediately. According to intelligence reports, there is a strong possibility of fierce attacks by Iran-backed militia groups within the next 24 to 48 hours, specifically targeting central Baghdad and the “Green Zone.”
Security experts note that while these Iran-linked fighters have previously targeted U.S. military bases and the embassy in Iraq, the current state of war has multiplied this threat significantly. The U.S. State Department warned that the situation in Baghdad could deteriorate rapidly, which may soon make it difficult for citizens to leave via commercial flights or other means.
This development comes amidst harsh statements from President Donald Trump against Iran and increasing military activity across the Middle East. Following these reports, the Iraqi government has tightened the security perimeter in the capital; however, the situation remains extremely tense due to the widespread presence of militia groups.
