Tejashwi Yadav Emerges as Most Preferred CM Face in Bihar, Prashant Kishor and Chirag Paswan Gain Ground

As Bihar heads toward its 2025 Assembly elections in November, political momentum is building across parties and alliances. According to a new C-Voter survey conducted in the third week of June, Tejashwi Yadav has retained his position as the most preferred Chief Ministerial face in the state, while Prashant Kishor (PK) and Chirag Paswan have made significant strides over the past four months.

Survey Highlights: Who’s Leading the Race?

The C-Voter poll, broadcast on Aaj Tak, places Tejashwi Yadav at the top with 34.6% of respondents naming him as their preferred CM choice. He is followed by Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, who has garnered 18.4% support, overtaking Nitish Kumar, who now ranks third with 17.4% preference.

Other notable figures include:

  • Chirag Paswan (LJP-Ram Vilas): 9.9%

  • Samrat Choudhary (BJP Deputy CM): 9.6%

This is the fourth C-Voter survey since February 2025, and it charts the evolving popularity of Bihar’s political figures ahead of the elections.

Tejashwi’s Steady Lead, but Support Erodes

Though Tejashwi continues to lead, his support has seen a decline over time:

  • February: 40.6%

  • April: 35.5%

  • June (Week 1): 36.9%

  • June (Week 3): 34.6%

That’s a 6% drop over four months, signaling growing competition and possible voter fatigue.

PK’s Meteoric Rise

Prashant Kishor has experienced a steady surge in popularity:

  • February: 14.9%

  • April: 17.2%

  • June (Week 1): 16.4%

  • June (Week 3): 18.4%

PK now surpasses even Nitish Kumar in popularity and is being seen as a viable alternative by a growing section of voters.

Nitish Kumar: A Declining Graph

Once a dominant force, Nitish Kumar’s popularity has stagnated:

  • February: 18.4%

  • April: 15.4%

  • June (Week 1): 18.4%

  • June (Week 3): 17.4%

The NDA maintains that it will contest under Nitish’s leadership, but his slipping public preference might become a concern.

Chirag and Samrat’s Up-and-Down Trends

  • Chirag Paswan has grown from 3.7% in February to 9.9% in June, peaking at 10.6% in the first week of June.

  • Samrat Choudhary started at 8.2% in February, rose to 12.5% in April, then dropped to 6.6% in early June, before recovering slightly to 9.6%.

Political Implications

The survey shows:

  • Tejashwi Yadav remains the frontrunner, but the decline in his numbers is a warning.

  • Prashant Kishor is emerging as a credible third force, challenging both RJD and NDA.

  • Nitish Kumar’s decreasing popularity raises questions about NDA’s strategy.

  • Chirag Paswan and Samrat Choudhary are making incremental gains, but still trail the top three.

With the elections just months away, voter sentiment is fluid, and the final outcome may hinge on alliances, campaign dynamics, and turnout.
