A shocking act of violence has rocked Taiwan’s capital after a man carried out a deadly knife attack following the throwing of a smoke bomb in a crowded area near a metro station in Taipei. At least three people were killed and five others injured in the brutal assault, triggering panic and chaos among commuters and residents.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred in a busy street near a Taipei metro station, where people were going about their daily routines. Eyewitnesses said the attacker suddenly stopped in the middle of the road, took out a smoke bomb from his bag, and hurled it into the crowd. Moments later, as visibility dropped, the attacker ran toward the metro station and began stabbing people indiscriminately. He targeted anyone who came in his path, leaving several victims bleeding on the street. The sudden and violent nature of the attack left bystanders screaming and running for safety.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving multiple distress calls. Police cordoned off the area, while ambulances transported the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities later confirmed that three victims succumbed to their injuries, while five others are undergoing treatment, some of them in critical condition.
