The incident took place in the Bairagi Mohalla area under the Kotwali police station limits of Gaya. The video shows the victim standing and talking to someone when suddenly four men approach him, draw their pistols, and fire four bullets directly into his chest. The youth collapses on the spot, while the shooters flee from the scene immediately after the attack.
Police have identified the deceased as Shubh Kumar, son of Upendra Paswan, a resident of Bairagi Mohalla. According to reports, Shubh had left home for some personal work when the assailants, allegedly waiting for him in ambush, attacked him from close range.
Family members have alleged that this was a revenge killing linked to a long-standing five-year-old dispute involving Shubh’s father, Upendra Paswan, and a local youth. The family believes that one of the accused orchestrated the murder to settle old scores.
Following the murder, the Kotwali police immediately reached the scene, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination to the Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital (ANMMCH).
Gaya City Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kumar Kaushal said that police are examining nearby CCTV footage and conducting raids to track down the culprits. He assured that the investigation is being conducted from all possible angles, and the victim’s family has filed an FIR in the case.
The daylight murder has caused widespread panic among residents of Gaya. Locals have questioned the law and order situation in Bihar, expressing anger over increasing incidents of public shootings and the lack of visible police deterrence.
