Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh – A horrifying incident shocked Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district on Wednesday when a villager brutally killed two teenagers and later set himself and his family ablaze, resulting in six deaths.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Vijay Kumar, called two village boys – Suraj Yadav (14), son of Laxmi Ram, and Sunny Verma (13), son of Om Prakash – to his house to help sow garlic in the fields. When the boys refused, saying they had household responsibilities on the last day of Navratri, Vijay flew into a rage. He attacked both with an axe in his courtyard, killing them on the spot.

Following the murders, Vijay locked himself, his wife, and their two daughters inside a room of his house and set it on fire. The flames quickly engulfed the structure, killing all four family members. Several animals tied up nearby were also burnt alive.

Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and managed to control the blaze after a prolonged effort, but by then the entire house had been reduced to ashes. In total, six people, including two minors and four members of Vijay’s family, lost their lives, along with four animals.

The tragic event has created an atmosphere of fear and shock across the village. Preliminary investigations suggest that Vijay Kumar, who worked as a farmer and livestock rearer, may have been under stress, though the exact motive behind his actions is still under investigation.

Police officials have confirmed that a detailed probe is underway to understand the circumstances that led to this gruesome act.
