In a stunning admission, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has publicly confirmed that India launched missile and drone strikes on key Pakistani military airbases as part of its covert Operation Sindoor on the night of May 9–10. This marks the first time Pakistan’s civilian leadership has officially acknowledged the attacks, following earlier military confirmations.

“Munir Called Me at 2:30 AM”: Shehbaz Sharif’s Statement Sparks Outrage

Speaking at a “Youm-e-Tashakkur” (Day of Gratitude) ceremony in Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir personally called him at 2:30 AM on May 10. “General Munir informed me that India had launched ballistic missile strikes targeting Nur Khan Airbase and other installations,” he said during his televised address, a clip of which has since gone viral on social media.

Sharif added that the Pakistan Air Force responded using indigenous technology and equipped Chinese fighter jets with advanced defense systems to neutralize the threat.

Army Previously Confirmed, Government Had Denied

Until now, Pakistan’s military had acknowledged damages from the strikes, but the civilian government had maintained silence. This is the first official acknowledgment by the Prime Minister, putting an end to speculation about the severity and intent of India’s strategic operation.

Pakistan’s Emergency Briefing and Indian Reaction

Earlier on May 10, Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry held an emergency press briefing. He alleged that Indian forces had attacked Nur Khan (Rawalpindi), Mureed (Chakwal), and Rafiqui (Jhang) airbases using precision missiles and drones.

Adding to the mounting evidence, Maxar Technologies released high-resolution satellite images showing significant damage at several Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan, Mushaf (Sargodha), Bholari, and Shahbaz (Jacobabad). The imagery compared snapshots from April 25 and May 10, clearly highlighting structural destruction—suggesting targeted precision strikes.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Precision Strike Without Crossing Borders

India reportedly launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted multiple terrorist training centers and military installations deep within Pakistani territory without violating the international border.

The global community has taken note of India’s advanced missile precision and strategic discipline, with international defense analysts praising its restraint and technological execution.

Political Reactions Pour In

The confirmation by Shehbaz Sharif triggered political reactions in India. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Shehbaz Sharif admitted General Asim Munir informed him at 2:30 AM about the Indian strike on Nur Khan Airbase. This proves how bold and precise Operation Sindoor was.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) added, “When terror airbases under your control are being destroyed and you remain clueless—it’s oddly satisfying to watch.”
