Russian Woman Found Living in Gokarna Cave With Children Identifies Israeli Businessman as Father

Gokarna, Karnataka | July 16, 2025 |

In a startling development from Gokarna, Karnataka, authorities have identified the father of two young girls found living with their Russian mother inside a cave earlier this month. The woman, 40-year-old Nina Kutina, also known as Mohi, claimed the father of her children is an Israeli businessman with whom she had been in a relationship for several years.

Nina, who arrived in India on a business visa from Russia, was deeply influenced by Hinduism and Indian spiritual traditions. Her spiritual journey eventually brought her to Gokarna through Goa. On July 9, she was found living inside a remote cave along with her two daughters—Priya (6) and Ama (4)—where the family had reportedly survived in isolation for nearly two weeks in a makeshift dwelling amidst dense forest and rocky terrain.

According to Indian Express, Nina initially declined to disclose the father’s identity but later, with the help of a counselor, revealed that the man is an Israeli national and a clothing businessman. The two had reportedly met in 2017 or 2018 and were romantically involved. Authorities confirmed the man is currently in India on a valid business visa and had been successfully located by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

Officials held a meeting with the Israeli national earlier this week to determine whether he would be willing to sponsor travel arrangements for Nina and her daughters. The man reportedly confirmed his past relationship with Nina and acknowledged paternity of the children.

FRRO has also informed the Russian Consulate in Chennai of the situation. Repatriation proceedings are underway, though officials estimate it may take up to a month to complete formalities. Reports indicate Nina also has another child in Russia.

Authorities are now arranging for Nina and her children to be deported back to Russia. She is currently housed at a detention center in Bengaluru while her daughters remain under temporary care.

A Gokarna police officer told reporters that Nina claimed she gave birth to one of the children inside a cave in Goa. “It is hard to believe, but we cannot rule it out entirely,” the officer remarked.

Nina’s visa expired in 2017, and her undocumented stay raised concerns over child safety and immigration violations. The discovery of the family’s unconventional lifestyle in a remote cave shocked local residents and authorities alike, prompting an investigation into their background and welfare.
