“Remove Police for One Day”: Arvind Kejriwal’s Challenge to BJP
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has sparked controversy with his fiery remarks during a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ held in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district. Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that if the police were withdrawn for even a single day, Gujarat’s farmers would chase down BJP members and make their lives miserable.
Kejriwal accused the BJP of arrogance and exploitation, alleging that the party had earned huge profits at the expense of the common people and farmers. “Farmers are furious with the BJP,” he said. “If the police are withdrawn even for one day, the lives of BJP members will become miserable. For 30 years, farmers have voted for the BJP out of fear that their children might be jailed. But today, the BJP has become arrogant. Farmers are angry and frustrated.”
Continuing his sharp criticism, Kejriwal added, “These BJP members are cowards. They hide behind the police. I say, just remove the police for one day — farmers will drag them out of their homes and beat them. They will beat them so badly that they won’t find a place to hide. Push the police back for a single day, and farmers will make BJP members’ lives miserable across Gujarat.”
The former Delhi Chief Minister also said that farmers were uniting across the state, with protests being organized in over 400 markets (mandis). “Farmers have gathered in more than 400 mandis across Gujarat. The protests are spreading everywhere,” he stated.
Kejriwal also took a jibe at the BJP’s relationship with former U.S. President Donald Trump, alleging that the party lacks courage in dealing with foreign pressure. Without naming anyone, he remarked, “BJP leaders are such cowards that Trump threatens them every day. He tells them to remove import duties on cotton from the U.S., and they obey. He says don’t buy oil from Russia, and they stop. Trump claims he ended the India-Pakistan war, and BJP leaders don’t dare respond. Trump tells them to hold their ears, they hold them; he tells them to sit down, they sit. BJP leaders wet their pants in front of Trump. They have no courage to stand up to him. Instead, they jail poor farmers. Shame on them! If you are real men, show your courage by threatening Trump, not farmers!”
