Washington/Tehran:
The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran has now extended to family members and diplomatic visas. Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani—who was killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike—and her daughter have been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This action followed the expiration of Afshar’s Green Card.
According to the U.S. State Department, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar has been openly supporting the Iranian regime and militant activities on social media. Based on this, she and her daughter were taken into custody and may soon face deportation. Additionally, the visa of Fatima Larijani, daughter of Iran’s former National Security Advisor Ali Larijani, has also been revoked.
President Donald Trump addressed the American public, making major announcements regarding the war with Iran:
End of the War: Trump claimed that the war with Iran is in its final stages and will be completely over within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Severe Warning: He warned Iran that if it does not comply, U.S. military action will be so intense that it will send Iran back to the “Stone Age.”
Strait of Hormuz: Trump dismissed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the U.S. no longer needs to import oil from there as the United States has become the world’s largest oil producer.
The Trump administration has revoked the visas and Green Cards of at least four prominent individuals associated with the Iranian government. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signaled that there is no place on American soil for supporters of the Iranian regime.
