Punjabi Singer Neeraj Sahni Receives ₹1.2 Crore Extortion Call from Terrorist Rinda, Threatened with Death

Punjabi singer, actor, and producer Neeraj Sahni has filed a police complaint after receiving an extortion threat from Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda. According to the complaint, Sahni was asked to pay ₹1.20 crore (₹12 million) and was threatened with death if he refused.

The Threatening Call

  • Date & Time: The incident occurred on October 6 at 3:20 PM, when Sahni received a video call on his mobile phone.

  • Identity Revealed: The caller identified himself as Harvinder Singh Rinda, a notorious terrorist linked with Pakistan.

  • Extortion Demand: Rinda demanded ₹1.20 crore and instructed Sahni to arrange the money immediately.

  • Weapon Displayed: During the video call, the accused brandished a pistol to intensify the threat.

  • Death Threat: Sahni was warned that if the money was not delivered, both he and his family would be killed.

  • Money Delivery Instruction: Rinda directed Sahni to hand over the amount to a man named Dilpreet. Another associate also spoke to Sahni during the call.

  • Additional Warning: The caller claimed strong ties with Pakistani-based terrorists and asserted that he had full knowledge of Sahni’s family. He cautioned that more calls would follow from members of the “Baba and Rinda gang.”

Complaint to Police

Sahni, who lives in Sector 88, Mohali, submitted a written complaint to Mohali Police and handed over all the digital evidence related to the call. He has also sought enhanced security for himself and his family.

Similar Extortion Incidents in Mohali

This is not the first such case in the Mohali region. In recent months:

  • A pharmaceutical company owner received a ransom threat.

  • A property dealer in Sohana was threatened with extortion.

  • An IT company owner was also targeted, though in that case, the police successfully arrested the accused.

Just 11 days earlier, another victim had received a similar audio call, and a case was registered at Sohana Police Station.
